I added some video links to my blog that I think I should probably explain. While Tommy was visiting he introduced us to a film maker from YouTube who does a "series" called "The Retarded Policeman". There are now 14 webisodes, so if you find it funny....head to YouTube to watch more.
At any rate, it is crude and TOTALLY against all that I stand for in terms of understanding and treating people who have a physical/mental, etc. challenge. However, as I have learned, sometimes it is easier to deal with a sad/scary situation by making it funny.
Lately I have a lot of fear of what Tommy will be doing in his job. Most of the time I prefer to be naive and in the dark (or at least pretend to be) about exactly what it is that law enforcement/public service workers have to deal with. Without a doubt they see things that none of us would want to see and at times their lives are in danger.
With all of that in mind, I found the "poking fun" at what officers do to lighten my mood and spirits, not only that.....in my mind I can remember Bubba's laugh and hear it whenever I watch. There is no doubt that one of the things I miss most is hearing his laugh.....it makes you just want to belly laugh along with him. Luckily I can get a laugh or two on the phone from him :D
