We all have "issues", and I know everyone who reads this will know what I mean.
It may be that you wish.......
It may be that you regret......
But every now and then when I may feel this way, I get a child like the one I saw this morning.
He is an adorable 9 month old baby boy, who presented with SBS, better known as shaken baby syndrome. The "event" took place when he was 4 months old. Whether you know anything about shaken baby syndrome or not, I can tell you it is typically fairly neurologically devastating and sometimes fatal. The shear force of the child's brain "rattling" around in the skull causes global damage and the results are variable in terms of how these little angels present physically.
Without going into boring PT details all I can say is that this little one is physically at the level of a 5 month old baby (that is being generous I might add) all because of someones "issues". Luckily for him he has been adopted by a wonderful family who seem genuinely petrified of handling this child and want to do the right thing to make sure he never is hurt again.
I already know he is patient I will never forget, most of the babies I have seen with SBS were in the hospital and have not survived....this is the first time I have seen a child like this that has "made it" and I am so hopeful for him and only hope that we can make a difference for this baby.

If anyone can help this poor babe, Dr. Vestal can!!!
So, so sad to think that someone's "issues" were taken out on an innocent baby ~
Best of luck to you both and God bless the family he is now safely with.
I personally think that you are a lucky person to be able to meet/know these "miracle" children. We know a little girl with Retts and autism and she is just the cutest thing. My girls just love her.
Keep up the good work on helping out these little children. You're a Hero in my eyes!
You CAN make a difference!!!!!!!!
