More running adventures

Ok. It is official. I blog about running a bit too much. However, it seems that a lot of strange stuff happens when I am running. So today, I ran my normal weekday run along the retirement community in Lincoln, which takes me by the golf course and also along some open fields.
Today I saw something moving on the golf course and assumed it was one of the hundreds of bunnies I see....oh no....this was no bunny. Indeed there were four legs, however they were long legs and a bushy tail and a pointy nose. A dog? NO. A cat? NO. To the best of my knowledge it was a fox, but could have been a coyote. It saw me before I saw it. It ran across the street in front of me to the open field. I assumed it would run and hide. This is where I got scared.
It DID run across to the other side, but instead of disappearing into the field, it turned to WATCH me run by. Seriously, this thing watched me like a hawk. It put it's head down and just stood there tracking me.
If you have ever seen a scary movie or perhaps the video to Thriller you know there is always a camera shot of the person who is running away and looking back frantically....that was me today.
I had snatched my pepper spray from my waistband and had my finger on the trigger, which did give me a little security. I kept telling myself "it's more afraid of you than you are of it"......but when the thing stands and has a stare-off with you that opinion starts to change.
The difficulty with an out & back run is you pass the same area twice....so I had to ask myself....will it be there when I run this same spot later....do I run on the same side it was on, hoping it went back to the golf course, or do I cross over and hope it is out in the field. Decisions, decisions.
Alas, I made it home without any further sightings.....but I have to wonder.....
would my pepper spray even phase this thing?
Oh well, I live to run another day :P

That is freaky. We have issues with coyotes here. For a while there they were attacking kids at the park. Just carry some food with you. That way if it comes by to attack you, you can throw it some food so it won't eat you. Like the mailman and their dog biscuits. LOL!!
