Yesterday a story was presented that just melted my heart. Being a daughter and not a mother there is a part of this I cannot relate to, but being a physical therapist I can truly appreciate what she has accomplished.

Meet Monica Jorge, a quadruple amputee. After giving birth she was diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis and had to have multiple internal organs removed as well as both arms below the elbow and both legs below the knee. So yesterday on Oprah she WALKS out without a walker on two prostheses! She is a true inspiration....what she has overcome is absolutely unimaginable and her spirit was incredible. This woman has learned to do so much for herself and even signs checks wearing only one of her arm prosthetics, truly an amazing accomplishment. What a joy she must have been to have in rehab as she worked incredibly hard and even wanted 5-6 hours of physical therapy a day instead of the usual 3-4. As I mentioned in a previous post.....as therapists....these are the patients that keep us going and inspire us to be better at what we do.
