I can officially say I did it. I am sitting here sore and trying to rehydrate. The Seattle Marathon has to be one of the toughest out there.
I am convinced.
At any rate the trip has been full of sight seeing, visiting and surprises. Saturday afternoon as we all sat visiting there was a knock at the door....Lindsey had gone to the airport to pick up Chris! He had decided he wanted to be at the finish line and was also going to run the half marathon. We were able to get into Seattle for sight seeing and have been lucky not to have too much rain.
Taken from Gas Works Park, Seattle is behind us
All in all it's been a blast, although yesterday was rough. I crossed the finish line to my whole family and my extended family, Vicki was there! Lindsey lives along the course near mile 25 and had put up signs and balloons and cheered for me. I cannot even describe it. About .2 miles from the end Tommy had positioned himself and he took off to alert everyone else of my arrival....seeing him and knowing I was so close helped me push through the pain and I didn't even feel my legs at that point. However, being cramped so badly not to even be able to walk was interesting....The moment this picture was taken I actually had to walk backwards as it was the only way I could without my calves cramping, thanks to Mot and Chris for guiding my way :)
Notice the smiles on our faces...BEFORE the race. Ha!
