As per usual I envision some of my blogs while I am out running....this weekend and this morning were no exception.
First and foremost let me just say that for whatever reason my love/hate relationship with sleep is currently in a hate phase. I awoke both Saturday and Sunday morning well before 5 am.....
So Saturday I was excited to get in some distance on my run as it would be the first 'big mileage' since the marathon. I did 9 miles and it was great. However....I have to share the train story. We live about a mile from train tracks. No big deal. Usually. Unless you are on a run and you need to cross them...before the train...I heard the whistle blowing while I was just leaving home. I figured it would be long gone by the time I got there. Wrong. The whistle was howling, it's dark, the crossing arms have not gone down yet....and I am still in the "warm-up" part of my run, so sprinting to cross is an option.....but would make the rest of the run hard. I keep getting closer and finally made the choice to sprint it out. I am about 10 feet from the trails when the lights start flashing and the arms start to drop. I look left and there is the train. Clearly I yelled out loud and darted like a deer in the head lights. Yes, obviously I made it, but I had to ask myself.....Really?!?! Erin, you thought it best to play chicken with a train? Really?!?! You didn't think back to all the movies you have seen when the girls shoelaces get caught in the tracks....Really?!?!? It's barely 5 am on a Saturday and you are sprinting in front of a train, Really?!?!?!?!
At any rate, crisis avoided. But....REALLY?!?!?!
So this morning I am running.....mind you it's dark(what's new), it's raining, and it's windy. There are puddles everywhere....I was on a straight away on a four-lane street (of course in the bike lane) when I hear a loud vehicle approaching. As it passes me.....it's an 18-wheeler semi truck who decides 1) It would be great NOT to change lanes and splash this girl with water, 2) It would be funny to honk and scare the begeezus out of this girl. Of course, there I am thinking....
REALLY?!?!? You couldn't change lanes when there is NO ONE else on the road, Really?!?!? Honking at a helpless (insane) girl on a run in the dark on a Monday, Really?!?!?!?!! What....do you think I will stop and ask for a ride if you honk....or wave.....Really?!?!?!
Special thanks to SNL Weekend Updates' Amy Poehler and Seth Meyer for the REALLY?!?! segments....I ♥ it, and as you can now tell it allows me lots of internal conversations :P
Last but not least.....
I am on a clumsy streak.
Last week I managed to position our crock pot in such a way in the sink that it slid down the side of the sink.....and broke. REALLY?!??!? Who breaks a crock pot.....
Yesterday morning I am sitting enjoying my paper and coffee.....and I hear another crashing/breaking noise in the sink. Let me preface this by saying that I keep a Seattle shot glass near the sink at all times as I use it twice a day....no not for alcohol :P Although it would explain a lot.... ;-)
It is special to me for obvious reasons.....and I actually had to replace my old one as I used it so much all the decoration came off.....there is nothing left but the faint outline of the Space Needle.....anyways....so it was my brand new cobalt blue with silver glittery rain drops (did I mention I ♥'d this new shot glass.....) Seattle shot glass that mysteriously "jumped off the cliff" from the side of the sink INTO the sink and broke.
I actually cried. Yes, it's just a shot glass......but, REALLY?!?!??!
As if breaking the Crock Pot wasn't enough......
Aye.
