Sometimes it makes me wonder.....

Yesterday I got a call from my friend Kristi telling me she had some good news to share. It was only after hanging up with her I was able to digest the information that my mind started to drift.
After nearly 2 years an arrest was made of a Canadian citizen who was involved in the murders of 5 US soldiers on April 10, 2009.
“The five American servicemen who lost their lives in Iraq as a result of the actions of this terrorist network made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. Today’s arrest demonstrates that we have not forgotten that sacrifice and will continue to use every available means to bring to justice all those who are responsible.”
I am an avid news watcher, newspaper reader, etc. and have yet to see or hear of this information other than on the internet. Although I know this is an old case, it pains me how little the American media is covering the war and covering the losses that are still happening daily.
My faith has been slightly restored in realizing there are people out there trying to bring terrorists to justice for the crimes they have committed.
However, I always have to ask myself....on a daily basis how many Americans stop to think about our troops? How many Americans realize as Starbucks new "Trenta" makes headline news that another father, brother, son, daughter, sister or mother has been killed at war?
Sometimes this society makes me scratch my head and wonder where are we going.....
The news yesterday allowed me a little that indeed there are people who haven't forgotten the men lost, they haven't forgotten the families who may seek justice for their loss.

Thank you for this post of where your thoughts drifted to and what was in your heart. I am thankful that my husband is retired from the military now and is home every night...but having gone through the deployments with him flying helicopters in areas of unrest, I will forever remember those times apart. We still have family and friends that are active duty and so...thoughts and prayers continue.
Thank you again!
Blessings & Aloha!
