Ever since I was a little girl I remember the scene from Wizard of Oz when the yellow brick road has two paths:
Dorothy: Now which way do we go?
Scarecrow: Pardon me, this way is a very nice way.
Dorothy: Who said that?
[Toto barks at scarecrow]
Dorothy: Don't be silly, Toto. Scarecrows don't talk.
Scarecrow: [points other way] It's pleasant down that way, too.
Dorothy: That's funny. Wasn't he pointing the other way?
Scarecrow: [points both ways] Of course, some people do go both ways.
You the know the cliche', I know you do......you are standing at a fork in the road, which direction will you go?
I am facing a BIG decision about work, well more like I have been putting off a big decision. I am taking baby steps toward making this decision, however I ran into this quote this afternoon and could not help but draw similarities
"Aim high, persevere, don't take "no" for an answer, don't be afraid to fall on my ass in front of anyone & everyone, not to give a shit - as long as you're being true to yourself and not hurting anyone, & not limit yourself physically, emotionally or mentally" - Kim Saigh, LA Ink
Sometimes I am saddened, I realize I am becomming what I loathe, what I fear.... A PT who is "comfortable". "Secure" in the health system but not willing to take the extra step or go out on that limb to purue my professional goals.
This is the fork in the yellow brick road.....what direction am I going to take?
I'll end with a famous quote from none other than the cowardly lion.....
"Courage! What makes a king out of a slave? Courage! What makes the flag on the mast to wave? Courage! What makes the elephant charge his tusk in the misty mist, or the dusky dusk? What makes the muskrat guard his musk? Courage! What makes the sphinx the seventh wonder? Courage! What makes the dawn come up like thunder? Courage! What makes the Hottentot so hot? What puts the "ape" in apricot? What have they got that I ain't got?"
