Anyways, I have to vent a little here. My difficulty lately is with the distinction between work and personal life. Given the circus that has been our life the last few days it has been difficult to "check my baggage at the door" when I come in to work. I find it so very hard sometimes to have the patience to listen to people whine and complain when I am not in the "right mind" to hear it. It is definitely a challenging part of this job. Now....give me a neuro patient and I can listen to them, care for them and walk away feeling rejuvenated and accomplished that little 'ol me CAN make a difference for them....AND.....My problems melt quickly away. That is one of many reasons I LOVE my patients with neurologic issues. I digress......

On the same vein......my personal life does not match my professional life and it drives me crazy lately. I find myself in collared shirts, pressed slacks, little to no makeup and no jewelry and it kinda makes me nuts right now. I cannot have any piercings showing or tattoos. I get really heated about this issue. Just because I may have any of these things DOES NOT make me a bad therapist or an inept therapist. I sometimes get SO agitated with societal norms and that we are so brainwashed into stereotypes, labels and images.
