The weather had me a bit nervous last week. Local forecasters are buzzing over the storms this past weekend and upcoming week. The reports looked as though the rain would not arrive until mid-morning Sunday....sweet....I'd be able to get in a dry 14 miles....not so much. I woke up to the sound of rain and checked my trusty Weather Channel app for the Doppler radar....green everywhere. I pulled on my cap to keep the rain out of my face and wore my light around my neck (sounds awful I know) to alert me of hidden puddles. It was a beautiful morning, with my favorite moment being when 5 Canadian Geese (honking in the distance behind me.....gives me chills as it immediately makes me think of Bubba and Poppa) decided to 'race' me. They were headed to 'light' on one of the many ponds speckled in Sun City. They landed a bit ahead of me and preceded to honk to me as I ran (at least that is who I decided they were talking to). I arrived home having beat my goal of a sub 2 hour finish with 14 miles completed in 1 hour and 56 minutes. Today was a different story. The wind gusts were upwards of 28 miles per hour and I knew I would have to hit the dreaded treadmill at the gym. Hrmph. I am SO not a fan, but with PC (the Clydesdale) pounding the treadmill next to me I managed to get it done....of course, having Lady Gaga blasting in my ears helped too.
In other running news. The Boston Athletic Association accepted my new and improved qualifying time, which I accomplished at the Cowtown Marathon. I went from 3:39:43 in Napa to 3:34:41. May not seem like much, but in Boston your qualifying time determines when you start. I won't know for sure until I get there, but fingers are crossed.
