From Fenway to 5K

When you see Fenway on TV it is pretty cool. When you see Fenway with your own two eyes it is awe inspiring. This ballpark and the surrounding blocks are awesome. Boston did it right with blocks and blocks of eateries and joyous red and blue clad fans smelling the sausages cooking and hearing the shouts, "Score-Cahhdssss", "Chowdah", "Peanutsssss".
Through a twist of events we ended up at a whole in the wall Italian restaurant and felt a bit like a Soprano's episode was being filmed and there could be a Mob member entering at a moments notice. None the less we noshed on pizza, pasta and beer and headed out to the game with full bellies.
It ended up being a frigid evening with temps in the 40's with a light rain. We bundled up and hoped the Sox would win this one! Although they lost we had a great time at the game and had to head home a bit early as the family would be running the Boston Atheltic Association, 2nd annual 5K early Sunday morning.
The morning started where the night before left off...COLD. It was cool to have the whole family running and I felt odd wearing street clothes amongst all the runners. It was a neat experience for me and I enjoyed snapping photos and being at the finish line of THE Boston Marathon as the 5K finishers came through. I found it so cool that all of my family finished the race and are able to enjoy running. It was a really cool feeling.
Once the race was over I felt an odd aura around me. I was nervous. All the other events were now done and all that was left....
was my run.
