It's Flax-tastic

Picture me at the store....seeing Flax Seed on sale, buying it in hopes of speeding post-run recovery and generally boosting my health. I get them home, put them in my oatmeal, on my yogurt and am not tasting much, but feeling like a million bucks for trying something new.
Yesterday I start doing some Internet searching and learn....the seeds need to be GROUND. Ooopsies. Several nutritionists say they do not HAVE to be ground, but the nutrient dense pod is INSIDE the seed. I tried grinding them in my molcajete and after being unsuccessful will need to find a cheap grinder. It's pretty funny to be a grown up and still be stumped by something as silly as food!

Funny you blogged about this. When we moved in they had left some of this behind. I had used it in my protein shakes since and loved it. When I went to re-stock I had a very difficult time finding something similar. Finally I came across a ground version. Have used it for a couple months and like it a lot. People ask why and I never really had a good answer. Thanks for the new information to make myself sound smart. I found mine at a local smoothie shop.
